ExpressVPN is a virtual private network (VPN) service offered by Express VPN International Ltd. It is accessible as desktop software for Windows, Mac, and Linux PCs, a mobile app for Android and iOS, and other devices like routers and consoles.

ExpressVPN Features

ExpressVPN plans provide the same features to consumers. The only difference component is the cost of the account; the longer you subscribe, the less you pay for it. A one-month subscription is available for $12.95, while a 12-month subscription is available for $8.32 per month.

Customers can utilize up to five devices at the same time, such as PCs and mobile devices.

SmartDNS is a feature available to all MediaStreamer customers. It may be used to unblock geo-restricted content without having to join the company’s VPN. It is an excellent choice for devices that do not support VPN, such as Smart TV.

ExpressVPN Privacy and Security Features

ExpressVPN does not log user activities when its service is used. The company agrees to collect technical information about application activations, connection dates, VPN server selections, and Megabytes transferred daily for troubleshooting purposes.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, an impartial third party, assessed the service and certified the company’s no-logs policy and adherence to its privacy policy. When Turkish officials confiscated an ExpressVPN server, the no-logs policy was put to the test. The authorities were unable to retrieve any data from the server.

ExpressVPN runs its servers in RAM, not hard drives; it is called TrustedServer. The main advantage of this is that the registers only exist in RAM. Restarting the server deletes all data and the software stack is automatically reloaded at server startup.

The company created its own protocol called Lightway. It’s not the same as WireGuard, which companies like NordVPN have changed and renamed. Lightway has around 1000 lines of code and uses the wolfSSL cryptographic library. Lightway code is available as a preview on GitHub

The company operates its own sealed encrypted DNS servers to protect user connections from DNS leaks.

Unblock Streaming Platforms Test

ExpressVPN performed admirably with the streaming services we tested. You may use the tool to unblock Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Disney+, for example, if you are on vacation overseas and want to view the most recent episode of a show that is only available in your home country.

We tested unblocking Netflix and Amazon Prime using ExpressVPN, and both services were unlocked without any issues. However, we were unable to access some of Netflix’s other regional offerings.

Note that some servers may be blocked as streaming companies may block the IP addresses of known servers.

Here it depends on your needs; If you need access to as many countries as possible, ExpressVPN’s offering is superior. If you only need a basic set of countries, NordVPN may be a better fit with its larger fleet of servers, especially as it offers better performance during testing.

NordVPN is the obvious victor of the comparison, outperforming ExpressVPN in nearly every category. It is significantly less expensive if you pay for at least a year, has superior server performance and speeds, and has more features than ExpressVPN.

ExpressVPN isn’t a horrible service by any means, but it doesn’t provide better value for money than NordVPN.
